Summer baseball and softball is played after the end of the traditional spring season. The season usually starts in early July and ends in August.
Summer ball is a chance for your player to stay out on the diamond this summer, sharpening his/her skills and, most of all, having fun!
Registration for summer 2024 will start in May.
We coordinate summer ball with other leagues in north Seattle, usually encompassing Magnolia, Ballard, Queen Anne, and other nearby neighborhoods. The general parameters are:
* Games start after July 4th and run for 5-6 weeks
* Usually 1-2 games during the week. No practices and no weekend games
* Larger rosters so it's OK for players to miss some games for vacations, etc.
BLL is offering three baseball division and one softball division this summer as follows:
Baseball
* AAA - this is for kids who are intending to play in AAA next year, which means they are now in AA or AAA (usually a Little League age 9 or 10 currently)
* Majors - this is for kids who intend to play Majors next year, which means they are currently in AAA or Majors (LL age 10 or 11 currently). If the player is currently a LL age 12 they are not eligible but could do Intermediate or Juniors with another league.
* Juniors - (for current LL 12s and older). This summer we will be co-leaguing with Northwest Little League. If your player is doing Juniors, have them register with BLL and they will be put on a team with the NWLL Juniors.
For summer ball, we encourage kids to "play up" to the division they plan to be next year, as it's a chance to be with a mix of players and get used to a higher level of ball in a relaxed environment.
Softball
Softball is currently opening registration for one division. Whether the players are then divided into divisions or participate in inter-league play will be determined based on registration. But if your player signs up for softball, rest assured they will get the chance to play summer ball in some form!
Registration opens today and will remain open until July 1st. Registration fee is $50. Scholarships are available.
It really helps with our planning to know how many players we will have ASAP so we can figure out uniforms, fields, etc. - so please register early!
