Ballard Little League is looking for umpires—no experience needed, we’ll train you!

Umpires are essential to making games fair and fun for all players. The kids appreciate having a trained umpire to call the game, and being an umpire is a fantastic way to give back to your community. By modeling fair play, you’ll help kids learn important skills like following the rules, staying consistent, handling disagreements, and celebrating teamwork.

Plus, being an umpire is FUN! It’s the best seat in the house and a rewarding way to be part of a great community program.

Why not get ahead of the game?
If there’s no umpire for a game, a parent is often pulled from the bleachers to umpire on the spot. Why not get a little training ahead of time so you’re ready if the need arises?

Worried about time?
You set your own schedule this spring—work as many or as few games as you like. Even helping with just three games as a new umpire makes a big difference!

Ballard Little League needs 15 adult umpires and 30 junior umpires for the 2026 season. Have a friend or family member who loves baseball and softball? Please forward this email to them. We love our community member umpires!

1. Register as a volunteer. Set up a Ballard Little League account, then open Volunteer under your profile page and Find Opportunities. Sign up under either the Softball or Baseball program for any division.
